Backtopoints
Backtopoints is an artist duo founded by brothers Zafer and Tuna Topaloğlu. Before forming the duo, Zafer was an active video artist in the international video and film art scene, presenting his works at numerous festivals and art events including the European Media Art Festival, Darklight Film Festival, Videobrasil, Videomedeja, Videoformes, Les Instants Vidéo Art Festival, India Art Fair, Room Art Fair, and Art Bengaluru Fair. At the same time, Tuna was developing his own independent video game projects, exploring interactive systems and digital environments. Their shared interest in experimentation and collaboration eventually led them to establish Backtopoints as a joint artistic practice.
The duo’s work focuses on constructing abstract presences and dynamic structures that continuously transform, convert, and reform. Through these processes, their works inhabit states of transition, where forms evolve and dissolve, allowing viewers to experience not only the finished composition but also the aesthetic qualities that emerge during its formation.In their recent projects, Backtopoints has increasingly explored the artistic interpretation of complex data, developing unique visual approaches and interface designs for data representation.
In addition to presenting their works on NFT platforms such as Nifty Gateway, Backtopoints has exhibited at Muze Gazhane, Emaar ArtHub İstanbul, Turkey Innovation Week (2022–2023), TEKIL 17, Digital Art: From Sketch to Pixel – Cappadocia Edition, and NFT.NYC 2024.
